A demonstrative talk by K. Saraswathi Vidyardhi, assistant professor, A.U. Department of Music for Thyagaraja Aaradhana Trust marked the 242nd jayanti of the Saint composer in Kalabharati on Sunday evening.

In the second part, she enlightened on the persona of conformity and compatibility between the sublime expression of manodharma that got simultaneously evolved in the lyrical and musical phraseology of his compositions that were sung as offerings of single-minded devotion to his Lord Sri Rama. Extensively quoting and singing his compositions which extol the Lord Rama and visualise Him as a personification of all sublime features, nuances and attributes of classicism ordained in carnatic music, she elaborated the amazing prowess of poesy and musicality showcased in manodharma.

She further established by a similar exercise as to how the evolvement of sangathis with subtle variations in musical notation not only serve to invigoratingly expatiate the bhava embedded in the lyrics but also constitute aesthetic guidelines for artistes for accomplishing meaningful aalapana, neravu and swarakalpana which have come to stay an important facet of the present day concert pattern.

Similarly, each one of the `Pancharatna kritis' serves as an unfathomable reservoir of model matrices to aid composing and render ragam, tanam and pallavi in the concerts, she concluded giving a few demonstrations.

She was ably accompanied on violin by M. Satyanarayana Sarma and M. Sridhar on mridangam.

Saraswathi Vidyardhi's talk also revealed that Saint Thyagaraja was a sentient and sentimental philosopher in his compositions as they expoundthe effulgence of the absolute reality.

They are ever refulgent that reveal the innumerable tints of ardency with which he treaded the most arduous path of piety towards self-realisation and attainment of liberation by way of getting not only identified himself with the Brahman in its miniature form within but also setting it out to get ultimately merged with the Parabrahman.
