The 97th birth anniversary of Srirangam Srinivasa Rao (30-04-1910) popularly known as Sri Sri was celebrated in his birthplace, Visakhapatnam on Monday.
A large number of writers, poets, and lovers of literature gathered near the statue of Sri Sri and garlanded.. Later, they assembled at the Public Library in Dwarakanagar where Mandali Buddha Prasad declared open an exhibition of pictures of Sri Sri in the vocabulary of the pen, pencil and the palette along with photographs of the poets like Francois Villon, Dante Gabriel Rosetti who translated Villon's works into English, Emile Verhaeren, A. C. Swinburne, Edgar Alan Poe whose works were either adapted or translated into Telugu by Sri Sri.
Talks - Nannerigina Sri Sri by writers Avantsa Somasundar and Kalipatnam provided an enlightening finale to the morning session. The evening session began with an address by Jagatdhatri.. Talks on Sri Sri Kavitha Prasthanam by journalist Telakapalli Ravi, Sri Sri Padaswaroopam by A.U. ProfessorChandu Subba Rao, Sri Sri Cine geethaluby poet Ramasuri and Sri Sri Anuvadaluby writer Ramatheertha stood out. Ramatheertha in particular dwelt into the aspect as to how Sri Sri got some of the works in other languages creatively transformed integrating their authors' thoughts with those of his own . Dramatist and playwright K. G. Venu proposed a vote of thanks.
