The happening industry

Rajendra Singh Babu is looking forward to Bhimoos Bang Bang Kids, the new children's film he's making

Rajendra Singh Babu.

Rajendra Singh Babu is revisiting what was once his forte — children's film. This time he's excited because there're a lot of graphics involved. The film stars Upendra. Ramya has shown keenness to be a part of the project too. Of course, there will be a gaggle of kids. "It's going to be a difficult film and a challenge. With kids involved my patience is going to be constantly tested," says the veteran.

The film is titled "Bhimoos Bang Bang Kids". The muhurath was a talked about affair with the who's who in the industry making an appearance. Films made for kids in Kannada have not fared well at the box-office in the recent past, but Babu who made "Nagarahole" long back is confident. "Most of the money will be spent on the graphics which will be state of the art. I'm getting the best guys in the business from Chennai and Mumbai." Shooting starts in a couple of months and hopefully kids can expect some rollicking fare.

Ramesh is taking a much-needed break. He's just wrapped up his second directorial venture, "Satyavan Savitri".

"I'm happy with the way it's shaped up. I can assure you it'll entertain you as much as `Rama Shama Bhama'." Ramesh is trying to usher in a corporate style of meticulousness in his projects. "Planning is very important. If you have everything down on paper, execution is child's play," says Ramesh who wrapped up the film in three months. Re-recording is going on and the first copy will be ready in 15 days.

Ramesh wrote a few scripts during the industry strike and his next film will be titled "Accident". In fact, impressed with his ability to plan and deliver, a couple of corporate houses have approached him to make feature films for them.

Ramesh is a little peeved though at the tepid response to "Soundarya" a reasonably well made film. "The film probably lacked entertainment which is what people now expect," says Ramesh.

Ramesh Aravind.

The shooting for the frequently postponed Tamil film "Vaaranam Aayiram" has started and Ramya is excited. She's finished a brief schedule and it's been fun.

She plays a school kid and to look the part has lost oodles of weight. Gautam Menon is impressed and wants her for the Telugu version of the film too. Mahesh Babu, the current heartthrob loved the script and is keen on starring in the Telugu version. Genelia is the other heroine. Ramya has also been approached by National award winning Malayalam director Hariharan to star in a historical about a little known freedom fighter. The hero is Mammooty and the script is written by renowned writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair. Hariharan thinks Ramya has regal features and will fit the role.
