Annamacharya festivals are taking place in every nook and corner of the State to mark the birth anniversary of the saint poet. He was called `Padakavita Pitamaha’ and `Sankeertanacharya’. At Sri Sivaramakrishna Kshetram last week, a mega event marking the Jayanthi of Annamayya was jointly organised by Sri Sadguru Sangeeta Sabha of Vijayawada and Silicon Andhra.
The programme started with a procession Nagara Sankeertanam where a large number of local musicians participated and sang Annamayya keertanas. This was followed by a Goshti ganam at the venue, i
n which nearly fifty musicians from all age groups rendered Saptagiri Sankeertanas.
The individual recitals of Annamayya keertanas began with a violin recital by vidwan Annavarapu Ramaswamy. In the evening session, a C.D titled Saptagiri Sankeertanas, rendered by P. Gowrinath and P. Gayatri, was
released by scholar T. S. Ramachandra Rao.
