Started over six years ago, Bhaagavataru has strived toward bringing together theatre, literature, art, music and other performing arts.
It has hosted several theatre festivals, seminars, music programmes, book releases and also taken upon itself to honour people who have made immense contributions to the various cultural fields.
Bhagavataru has organised some very unique programmes, for instance, to mark the 125 years of Kannada theatre it hosted “Mayamanjari”.
The daylong programme traced the origin of theatre in Kannada, from the days of royal patronage to now, including the development of street theatre. It has held programmes not just in Bangalore but in other parts of Karnataka as well.
The group has organised theatre festivals of specific directors, apart from seminars and discussions on theatre.
The programme is on May 13 at 6.30 p.m. at the Ravindra Kalakshetra, J. C. Road. Tickets are priced at Rs. 49 and Rs. 99. Call K. Revanna on 94480-77292.
