On location ‘Heartbeats’ marks Simran’s comeback to the film industry. Indrajith plays the lead.
Campus beat: The story is set against the backdrop of a medical college and deals with the problems faced by students.
Watching the action on the sets of a film can be as engrossing as watching a movie itself. Men moving around at a frenetic pace, lights of all shapes and sizes being fixed at various places, wires being connected at umpteen plug points, last-minute discussions and, of course, the stars who add glamour to the scene.
The scene is no different at a house in Kakkanadu, Kochi, which is one of the locations of Vinu Anand’s film ‘Heartbeats.’
“The story is set against the backdrop of a medical college campus but without the usual candy floss romance or action associated with such films. The film deals with several aspects of life on a campus. For a section of the students, this is the period to give shape to lives while for certain others, life’s just a big party. It is also the time when lasting friendships are forged.
Interesting twists
“An attempted suicide leads the story through some interesting twists. The enigma that surrounds a woman whose whereabouts is not known to many creates the mood of a suspense story. Indrajith and Simran play the lead roles in the film,” explains the director.
Simran, who makes her entry films after a three-year interval, plays Thankam George, who, according to the actor, “is subtle and strong.” Many youngsters have been cast as medical students.
Indrajith, Manikkuttan, Anoop Chandran, Govindankutty and Arun are the actors facing the camera on a Saturday afternoon. A trolley is being set up and cinematographer Jibu Jacob is busy arranging the settings.
Says Indrajith, “ My character Binoy Idicula is a likeable youth who has different shades to his personality, including comedy, sentiments, romance and even some mischief.”
Indrajith adds that he is looking forward to Lal Jose’s ‘Arabikkadha,’ in which he plays a character named Comrade Anwar.
Manikkuttan, who was last seen in ‘Chotta Mumbai,’ is all set to make his presence felt in Tamil, “if things out work out as it is being planned now. I am also looking forward to the song sequence that has come out very well in Vinayan’s ‘Black Cat.”’ ‘Heartbeats’ is being produced under the banner of Tristar films and will be released in the first week of August.
Remya Nambeeshan, Jagathy Sreekumar, Cochin Haneefa and stage actor Vijayakumari are also there in the cast.
The story has been written by the producer of the film, Jolly Joseph. Screenplay and dialogues have been written by Babu Janardhanan. Lyrics by Gireesh Puthenchery have been set to music by George Peter. Stills are by Giri Sankar.
