The second edition of ‘Idea Star Singer’ was launched in Thiruvananthapuram. Mohanlal inaugurated the talent hunt at Vattiyoorkavu Lakshmi Auditorium.
Interactive talent hunts on television channels seem to be in the thing on many of the channels.
Lavish sets, innovative rounds and talented participants have contributed to the popularity of these shows.
101 contestants
More than 20,000 wannabe singers had applied to participate in this edition of the game show.
Out of this, 101 singers have been short listed for the reality show.
Elimination rounds will see the list being narrowed down to 40 contestants.
The lucky singers will be selected by an eminent jury comprising playback singers M.G. Srikumar and Usha Uthup, and music director Sharath.
Viewers can also have their say through SMS and vote for their favourite contestants. In fact, their votes will play a decisive role in selecting the winner of the musical talent hunt.
The winners stand to win a flat worth Rs. 40 lakhs in Bangalore and Rs. 5 lakhs in cash, say the organisers of the talent hunt.
Moreover, they will also get the opportunity to sing in a film directed by Vinayan.
The show will be telecast on Asianet from May 21 at 20.30 on weekdays.
