Mega camp on Carnatic music

The International Foundation for Carnatic Music (http://ifcm.ravikiranmusic.com) is organising a first-of-its-kind Carnatic music camp on a mega scale on May 26 & 27 and June 2 & 3, at Narada Gana Sabha. The workshop will feature gurus and musicians P.S. Narayanaswami, Prof. S.R. Janakiraman, Trichur Ramachandran and Rama Ravi will participate. A rare opportunity to learn directly from Thanjavur Shankara Iyer is also offered wherein he would dwell upon his own comp ositions. The camp will also include the compositions of the Trinity, GNB, Dharmapuri Subbarayar, Pattabhiramiah and pre-Trinity composers.

The schedule is a follows: P.S. Narayanaswami — Rare compositions of Trinity (May 26, 27 — 9-11 a.m.); Rama Ravi — Javalis (May 26) Assorted masterpieces (May 27) — 11 – 1p.m.); S.R. Janakiraman — Pre-Trinity compositions and rare varnams (June 2, 3 — 9 – 11 a.m.); Trichur Ramachandran — Masterpieces of GNB (June 2 & 3 — 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.); Thanjavur Shankara Iyer — Own compositions (June 2 & 3 — 2 – 4.30 p.m.)

The workshop is open to all those above the age of five, who have been learning music for at least two years, and possess singing knowledge of a minimum of 25 compositions. Students, amateur musicians, as well as performers and teachers can interact with the artists and gain invaluable insights. The entire programme will be telecast by Shakti Extratainment Global TV so that students from other parts of the world may also benefit.
