At a time when the once popular and proud practice of scripting plays with dialogues structured in the classical idiom of prose and poetry is soon getting thrown into oblivion, noted poet, playwright, actor and director Meegada Ramalinga Swamy’ ;s efforts in scripting such plays almost every year for Meera Kalaajyotsna (a dramatic body established by himself) and staging it under his direction is laudable. He can gradually improve upon the artistic finish with finesse and lead himself to carry conviction in bringing out the attributes of the main characters and the sequencing of the episodes revealingly enough to be stamped as a renaissance man nonpareil of poetic drama, many a connoisseur felt.

His recent effort Kunti Karna was staged in Kalabharathi for Visakha Music and Dance Academy. Minor lapses like making Lord Krishna state that he was a Nimitthamatra and tendency to ape the mode of affectation of tenor and tempo that mark the script of the popular Pandavodyoga Vijayamulu notwithstanding, it turned out to be a praise worthy production and an epitome of making the art renascent. Despite the representation of the background settings in form of painted curtains of very insufficient dimensions on the large stage, thanks to the excellent histrionic talent showcased by S.V. Ratna Sastry as Kunthi, Cheekati Rama Rao as Krishna, Meegada as Karna and M.Ramachandra Rao as Suyodhana in that order, the play captivated all in the auditorium. With the reasonably good talent exhibited by A.V. Naidu, N.T. Naidu, K. Sankara Rao, Appala Naidu, Jaya Kondala Rao, T.K. Naidu , Ch.A. Naidu, S. Satyam, P.V. Ramana Murty, M. Appala Naidu and Ms. G.V.S. Nirupama in the supporting cast, the play overall turned out to be a hit.
