All for a friend

Sajid Nadiadwala and Salman Khan are one of those rare friends in the film industry. Sajid had planned to release his production Hey Baby on July 27. But when he learnt that buddy Salman Khan’s international film Marigold and Hindi film Partner are scheduled to release on July 27 and 20 respectively, he postponed Hey Baby’s release to August 24. Hey Baby stars Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and Vidya Balan.

In true faith


Mahesh Bhatt’s forthcoming production, Awarapan, directed by Mohit Suri, is in the news for the right reasons. After Henna, this is the first film to have been shot in Pakistan. Not wanting to offend religio us sentiments, Mohit Suri ensured the presence of Muslim experts on the sets. The film was shot in India, Hong Kong, Thailand and Pakistan and Suri had Muslim consultants from each of these countries to guide the heroines – Shriya Saran and Mrinalini Sharma – especially during the namaaz scenes.

A three-film deal for Priyanka


Hrithik Roshan’s three-film deal with Adlabs for a reported sum of Rs. 35 crore was just the beginning. The trend of Indian studios signing on actors is here to stay. Priyanka Chopra is the first actress to sign a three-film pact with UTV Motion Pictures. The association will have Priyanka being involved in a few brainstorming sessions and taking part in short listing the scripts.

Madhuri and Saroj: No feud?


A few weeks ago, choreographer Saroj Khan went on record stating her unhappiness about Madhuri not recommending her to Yash Raj Films for her comeback film, Aaja Nachle. Khan further announced her first film as a director and opted for Priyanka Chopra as against her favourite student, Madhuri Dixit Nene. Madhuri, though, maintains that it was Yash Raj’s decision to choose Vaibhavi Merchant over Saroj Khan!
