Sound of music

Can you carry a tune or play a musical instrument? If the answer is in the affirmative, register on or before June 13 to participate in the Fête de la Musique.

Alliance Française de Trivandrum and Embassy of France in India is organising a musical soiree in connection with Fête de la Musique (World Music Day) at 6 p.m., June 15, at Vyloppilli Samskriti Bhavan.

The festival is open to amateur and professional singers and musicians who want to celebrate the sound of music. The festival of music was started in France on June 21, 1981, and was conceptualised by Jack Lang the then French minister for culture, to pay tribute to music.

Over the years, it has evolved into a social tradition, and is today celebrated all over Europe and other parts of the world.

In France, every year on this day, thousands of musicians gather and perform at public places to celebrate the spirit of music. Contact: 0471-2320666/2320777
