B.A. Narayana, lecturer, Govt. College of Music and Dance, Guntur, rendered a vocal recital for Visakha Music and Dance Academy in Kalabharathi last Monday. Endowed with a reverberating voice that exudes a fine blend of resonance and melody, he prove
d himself prudent in the selection and eloquently rendering the items striking exquisite Sangeetha and Sahityasamanvaya with poise. His repertoire for the evening comprised Begada varnam, Siddhi Vinayak
am (Shanmukahpriya) with ragam and swaram, Vinaradanaamanavi (Devagandhari), Terateeyagarada (Reethigowla) prefixed
with brief but beautiful alapana, elaboration of Manasulonimarmamulu (Varam) embellished with alapana, neravu and swaram, Natajanapalini and extensive elaborat
ion of Yennallurake (Subhapantuvarali) concluded with eruditely executed Thani on mridangam by Mangalagiri Sridhar that enthralled all alike.
Sridhar with his silken touch on mridangam made it sound singing in tandem with the vocalist. Maavuduri Satyanarayana Sarma on violin with his nimble technique in following and scholarly responses in his turns with delightful dexterity contributed to the grandeur.
