Hilarious socio fantasy

‘Yamagola Mallee Modhalaindhi’, has thrills and emotions. M. L. Narasimham

Comic path Krishna Bhagwan, Srikanth and Venu in the film.

The season to make films on Lord Yama is back with Frames Entertainments, Yamagola Mallee Modhalaindhi directed by Srinivsa Reddy with Srikanth, Venu, Reema Sen and Meera Jasmine in the lead. “When it comes to Yama’s ro le who else can fit into it than Kaikala Sathyanarayana,” says A.R.S. Frames Satish. He is producing the film with Amar and Rajasekhar. “ He had earlier played the role four times and all the four films were box office hits.”

Satish reels out the statistics as the shoot is in progress at a restaurant set put by art director Mani inside the Ramoji Film City. Reema Sen and Meera Jasmine enter the café as ‘SteadyCam’ Prasad’s camera focuses on a group of rowdy elements who start teasing the two. The director orders for a cut. The camera position is slightly altered to zoom in on Venu and Krishna Bhagwan who are also in the restaurant observing the rowdies. Venu moves towards the goons. But Krishna Bhagwan stops him.

Srinivasa Reddy who is watching the shoot on the monitor says, “Venu decides to teach a lesson to the rowdies but Krishna stops him. He reasons out that if he picks up a fight with the rowdies the women may mistake him to be a street fighter and instead of impressing them he may lose out. A convinced Venu steps back. Now watch what happens,” he says. Enters Srikanth. He smashes the rowdies. The two girls go ga ga over him with a mard hotho aisa look and comment magaadante ila vundali.

The camera tilts towards Venu who vents his anger and says, choodu ippudemaindho vaadu hero aipoyadu.’ A satisfied Srinivasa Reddy orders ‘cut.’ “There is an interesting ancestral lineage to the characters o f Srikanth and Venu which I do not want to reveal now,” says Srinivasa Reddy. “Meera hails from a rich joint family. She is tender hearted and caring. Quite contrast to her is Reema who stays opposite her house. A police officer, she is a tough lady. Love blossoms between Srikanth and Meera and Venu and Reema. Krishna Bhagwan is like Narada of yore,” he stops for a while checking whether he is revealing too much of the storyline.

In a socio-mythology graphics play a major part. Of the total length there is space for about 40 to 45 minutes of computer graphics. “The advantage is that the producers have one of the best and busiest graphics studios in the twin cities. However, the two eyes for the movie are cinematographer Prasad and music director Jeevan Thomas. Thomas makes his debut and of the five songs he has composed one we shot in a set here. W plan to complete the talkie portions and then move on to finish the four songs, two in the sets and two preferably in Austria with the lead pairs.”

The shoot is about to commence and Reddy moves towards the actors. Satish chips in to say that they are in graphics business for the past decade and with all their experience they started work on the graphics much ahead of the movie’s shoot with a complete storyboard. “The entire graphics work took two-and-a-half months and we are still fine tuning it. What makes our film interesting is that unlike in earlier Yama films there is no clash between Yama and man. It has thrills and emotions and an out and out entertainer,” he concludes. This July release has in its cast Naresh, Balaiah, Chalapathi Rao, ‘Ahuti’ Prasad, Sivaji Raja, L.B.Sriram, A.V.S., Kavitha, Hema and Rajitha.
