Litterateur remembered
Late Guntur Seshendra Sarma’s Adhunika Mahabharatam and his other 30 odd literary works like Kaalarekha and so on seem to be to make its relevance re-actuated and actualise a mood of introspection of the p
resent day society and ills that bog it. Scripted in simple and readers’ friendly idiom in both the prose and poetic dictions, they reflect not only his in depth knowledge of all oriental and occidental literature his ambition to bring in reform by way of initiating a movement for the well being of people of all rungs of the society around him. Thus the public persona of the late Sarma who died recently and his revolutionary poesy as it gets revealed in his works, was analytically and reverentially described by all speakers in the meeting that was held to condole his death in the premises of State Information Centre last Sunday. The speakers, noted men of letters, represented various literary associations in the city. Ponnada Kumar who read out excerpts from the Praja (Prasnalu a Javaabulu) column scripted by late Sarma for Andhra Jyoti Weekly during 1986-88, represented Visakha and Sahridaya Sahithis. Founder president of Sahitya Surabhi, The meeting passed a condolence res
olution after observing two minutes silence.
