What’s cooking?

GOSSIP Lots of films in the pipeline. And will Ganesh magic work again?

If at all something like this happens and then it may well be the biggest news of the Kannada film industry. Yogaraj Bhat, the director of blockbuster film “Mungaaru Maley” is all set to start his new film which is to be produced by one o f the top line South Indian film industry’s top line producer. Bhat has been inaccessible to the media for more than three months and was busy writing the script of this film which has been titled as “Gaalipata”.

He selected Daisy Bopanna, Chaaya Singh and Neeta as heroines of the film. Now, the news is Puneet Raj Kumar will be playing the lead role in this film.

If at all the film comes out with the Bhat and Puneet combination, it will certainly be the most desired production of Kannada film industry.

Incidentally, Bhat has selected Harikrishna to do the music composition for this film since “Mungaaru Maley” music director Mano Murthy has become very busy in the Kannada film industry these days.

Five wheels

Ravichandran and Jaggesh starrer “Tata Birla” has the highest number of heroines that any film can boast off. This two-heroine film has five heroines who have established their credentials in many films including in Kannada.

Jennifer, the “Jogi” girl who is now the busiest star of Kannada films is being paired with Ravichandran. The other heroines who are working in this film include Pooja Gandhi (the heroine of “Mungaaru Maley”), Nikitha who had paired Sudeep in the film “Maharaja”, Keerthi Chawla who was the second heroine in the film “Datta” and Raana who had acted in a few South Indian films earlier.

All the five heroines are now working in the first schedule of the film which is now going on in Abbaiah Naidu Studios in Bangalore. Pandu Magadi who had earlier delivered hits like “Honeymoon Express” and “Tenali Rama” has directed this comedy flick which has music by Guru Kiran.

Unhappy auteur

Actor and director Prem has finally announced that the shooting portions of his new film “Preethi Eke Bhoomi Melidhe” which is launching him as the hero is all set to be completed by the end of June.

The film has two new heroines Namratha and Rohini who have already participated in major portions of the shooting held in Pollachchi, Kushalanagar and Madikeri recently. Prem says that he has taken nine to ten days to shoot each song of the film. Except for Sudharani and Sudha Belawadi, most artists in the film are all new faces, says Prem.

Incidentally, Prem is unhappy about the negative publicity about the film in a section of the media. “The fact is that the audio cassettes of the film is selling like hot cakes. But some people in the industry are spreading baseless reports that the audio is a big flop.”

Ganesh magic

Ganesh’s new film “Hudugaata” might not have pleased the film critics, but his ardent fans are loving it and seeing it again and again. The film has got a fantastic opening and within three days of its release the film is already being spoken in trade as a big hit.
