In every Andhra home in the U.S., one invariably finds cassettes or C.Ds of Jandhyala’s movies. Jandhyala’s name is synonymous with rib tickling comedy sans obscenity and the man was humour personified. Jandhyala was responsible for intro
ducing to the movie field, great comedians like Bramhanandam, Sutti pair Veerabhadra Rao and Velu, Naresh, Kota Srinivasa Rao scores of others. The 6th death anniversary of Jandhyala was held by Kala Manjari, a cultural organisation in
Vijayawada.
Actor Kota Srinivasa Rao, Ravi Shanker, deputy Commissioner of Income-Tax land Geddam Subbarao, president of Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce paid glowing tributes to the late director and writer. Srinivasa Rao announced that every year he would present a gold medal worth Rs.10,000 to the student who scored the highest marks in X std examination and the award would be presented in memory of his father, late Kota Seetaramanjaneyulu. After the meeting, a hilarious playlet titled Padarangamlo Chadarangam written by M. P. Kameswara Rao was presented. In the jokes competition that followed, the first, second and third prizes went to P. Durga Rao, Kiran Kumar and Yagnesh Babu respectively.
