In a lighter vein

‘Sanmanasullavarku Samadhanam’ completes 300 episodes on Asianet.

Breath of fresh air: ‘Sanmanasullavarku Samadhanam.’

Sanmanasullavarku Samadhanam’ scores a triple century and is still going strong. The sitcom, which is telecast on weekdays at 22.00 on Asianet, has a devoted viewership .

Although the sitcom is based on current events and incidents that make the headlines, it manages to infuse a dose of humour into the most serious issues. That is the strength of the programmes, feels K.V. Sasi, director of the show.

Acknowledging the work by a team of talented writers led by Chandran Ramanthali, Sasi says, “All of us suggest ideas and themes and then the writers work on that. Sometimes, we reach the location and if someone has a better idea, they work around that. Chandran is assisted by Girish Gramika and Ajayan in developing an idea into a story.”

The star of the show is Manikantan who dons the role of Kuriakose. “Not many knew that the elderly Kuriakose was played by a youngster. We let out the secret only after we completed 100 episodes,” chuckles Sasi.

Moreover, as each episode is based on contemporary issues, viewers are able to relate to the stories and are familiar with the events and people referred to in each episode. In the age of tearjerker mega serials, ‘Sanmanasullavarku Samadhanam’ comes across as a breath of fresh air.
