To commemorate the second anniversary of Anandathandavapuram Gopalakrishna Bharathi, a music festival has been organised on July 7, 5.30 p.m. at Vani Mahal, T. Nagar. Dr. M. Narmada will inaugurate and M. Murali of Sri Krishna Sweets will preside. Vocalist sisters Ranjani and Gayathri will be felicitated on the occasion by N.K.Moorthy, president.

K.V.Ranganathan will give the welcome address. N. Murali, Managing Director, The Hindu, and president, Madras Music Academy, will inaugurate. P. Obul Reddy, industrialist, Chennai, will preside. K.V.Ramanachari, Executive officer, TTD, and B. Karun akara Reddy, chairman, TTD Board of Trustees will be the guests of honour. The staff and students of S.V.College of Music and Dance, Tirupati and local artistes will render Pancharatna kritis at 7 p.m.
Title for dramatist
Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha (Ph: 2844 1837) is celebrating its 106th drama festival from July 7-13 at Narada Gana Sabha, Alwarpet, with popular stage plays. On the inaugural day, the award, ‘Nataka Kalasarathy’ will be conferred on Koothapiran, veteran stage director, writer and actor. Justice V. Dhanapalan will inaugurate the festival and Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti will confer the title. A. Natarajan, former director, Doordarshan Kendra, Radhu and S. Ve. Shekar will felicitate the awardee.

Sri Raghavendra Swamy Seva Trust, Venkateswara Nagar (West), Anakaputhur, Chennai - 70 (Ph: 2248 2972) is conducting the installation of the deities of Krishna, Gajalakshmi, Chaturbhuja Anjaneya, Bharathi Devi, Viswambara Vinayaka, Durga Vigrahas and the Jeernodharana Ashtabandhana Kumbabhishekam of Rukmani Sathyabhama sametha Panduranga Vittala, Anjaneya and Raghavendra swami’s Mirthika Brindavana. It is scheduled to take place on July 7, between 10.30 and 11.30 a.m. Special pujas and homams will be conducted prior to the consecration.
