Aadi Velli
Chennai Om Sri Skandasramam is celebrating Aadi Velli/Aadi Pooram from July 20-August 17.
On the first Friday, the deity will be adorned with Pushpapavadai Alankaram.
The subsequent Fridays, the deity will be adorned with Manjal Kappu Alankaram (July 27), Oonjal Alankaram (August 3), Annapoorani Alankaram (August 10) and Sarkarai Kappu Alankaram (August 17).
On these days, Go Puja will be performed at 7.15 a.m., followed by Prathyankara Saraba Soolini Homam at 9 a.m., special abishekam for Matha Bhuvaneswari at 10 a.m. and Annadhanam 12.30 p.m. Special alankarams and special Navavarna Puja will be performed for Sri Chakra Maha Meru.
Contributions (exempt from tax under 80-G) are invited from devotees for renovation of Sri Chakkarathazhwar, Lakshmi Narasimhar, Sahasralingam and Nandikeswarar shrines. Sani peyarchi
On August 5 (Aadi 20), Chennai Om Sri Skandasramam is celebrating the transit of Saturn with a Go Puja at 7.15 a.m., Navagraha Homam at 9 a.m., special abishekam and Anna Dhaanam at 12.30 p.m. Saneeswara Bhagavan will be adorned with sandal paste at 6 p.m.
