Celebrating the 52nd anniversary of Visakha Dance Academy, its students, all below 10 years of age presented delightful dance numbers in Bharatanatyam style last week at Kalabharati.

Guests of honour MLA Dronamraju Srinivas and noted orthopaedic surgeon N.V.S. Kiran Kumar lighted the lamp to mark the beginning of the show.

Pushpanjali by the teachers of the institute Radhika, Tirumala and Sankara Mahanti followed by Vinayaka Koutham in naata by Malaika, Akanksha and Varsha marked the delightful start.

Tidy presentation

The tidy presentation of Devadevambhaje (Hindolam) by Nitya, Hamsanandi Jathiswaram by Anusha, Edutanunnadu (Bhujangini) by Bipasa, He Sivasankara (Hamsanandi) by Akanksha, Gayathivanamaali (abhogi) in group by Nitya, Malaika, Vysakhi, Vaishnavi and Ruchika and Raaramaayintiki (Sahaana) by Varsha turned out to be delectable fulfilment of all intricacies of classical dance with felicitous charm.

The dances presented by Lakshmi, Radhika, Tirumala and Sankar Mahantis enhanced the splendour.

Scintillating nattuvangam by Lakshmi had aesthetically invigorating vocal support by Dwaram Thyagaraju and Sumitra Sinha (for only a bhajan) in the excellent company of Edukondalu on mridangam, Neeladrirao on violin, Dhananjai on tabla, Satyanarayana on veena and Mallesh on flute.

Make-up and costume were provided by Surabhi Chandra Sekhar and Suryarao.

Presenting mementos, Dronamraju said it was a paragon of heart-warming exercise in choreographic studies and its execution on the stage by the kids in particular.
