Perfect synch Violinists Kambhampati Lakshminarayan Sastry and Lakshminarasimha Murthy bow with gusto
Veteran violinist Kambhampati Lakshminarayana Sastry and his son Lakshminarasimha Murthy, from New Delhi, gave a memorable recital under the aegis of Sangeetha Ksheerasagaram and Thyagaraya Ganasabha recently. Lakshminarayana Sastry is known for dext
erous play with perfect modulation, displaying imagination and mastery over his instrument. The duo simply enthralled the packed auditorium.
Their rare appearance and popularity as violinists brought many musicians of the twin cities to the auditorium. Mridangam specialist Jayabhaskar known for his deft hand, accompanied them. B.Janardan was on ghatam.
The recital began with Swati Tirunal’s Ata tala varnam in Kambhoji, followed by the invocatory piece –Dikshitar’s Srimahaganapathim in Gowla.
The Pancharatna kirtana Endaro Mahanubhavulu in Sri ragam simply thrilled the audience. Bantureethi Koluvu in Hamsanadam, Marivere Dikku of Shyama Sastry in Ananda Bhairavi and Vararagalaya (Thyagaraja) in Chenchukambhoji- all in a row continued the pleasant mood with their playing skills interspersed by the vocalist.
Neevada Negana in Saranga, in Khandachapu tala, gave a kind of break for the duo to take up the main offering of their concert - Chakkani rajamargamu in Kharaharapriya along with nereval and swaram.
They played the raga well, sometimes distributing the techniques between them. The kriti presentation on both violins gave a great feel. The taniavartanam by the percussionists added to the lovely mood of the main number. The latter part of the concert had of Sadasiva Brahmendra’s Pibare Ramarasam in Ahirbhairavi, an Annamacharya composition- Brahmakadigina Padamu in Mukhari and Muthaiah Bhagavatar’s Needu Mahima Pogada Naa Tarama i
n Hamsanandi.
Patnam’s tillana in Farazu concluded the impressive show which maintained a high quality till the end.
