The opening sounds different

ON LOCATION For the first time actor Arjun’s production will not have him playing the lead role. Instead Arun Vijay dons the mantle. S. R. Ashok Kumar

Will it be a break for Arun? Thavam

The shooting for Sreeram Films Private Limited’s ‘Thavam,’ was going on in full swing at Kovalam. The sound of sea waves made it impossible to follow what the lead players were saying to each other. Cinematographer Ravi was closel y following the lead pair. Director Shakthi Paramesh explained what he needed for the next shot and came over to talk about the film. “It is a love story with a difference. What we are shooting now on the Kovalam beach is the opening sequence. The lead pair Arun Vijay and Vandana are not lovers. Each comes to the beach to commit suicide. Only here do they meet each other.” Director Shakthi Paramesh does not believe that grandeur of a film can make it a hit.

They have shot for nearly 34 days and now they are into post production work. The film would be a big break for Arun Vijay, as he has come out with a fantastic performance, you hear.

Action and sentiment

“Generally Arjun’s films are action combined with sentiment and good songs. This film also has them but it is the first time that Arjun is producing it, while I am doing the lead role. He has produced three films and he has acted and directed them. I must thank him for giving me an opportunity to work in his banner. The film has come out very well and I feel it would certainly take me to the top slot,” says Arun Vijay.

Actor Arjun says: “The subject is good and it needs a hero like Arun Vijay. So I decided I will not do the lead role. But after seeing the rushes I told the director I should do role in the film. . We are working hard to finish the project and release it in the last week of August.” The film has been shot in Chalakudi and Pollachi. They have also shot in Chennai.

The heroines are Vandana and Madhumitha. Both are new finds facing the camera for the first time in Tamil. Along with them Vadivelu, ‘Vennira Adai’ Murthy, Janakaraj and Madan Bob are doing important roles. Music is scored by D. Imman and editing is done Sai Suresh. Dialogue is written by Gopinath and stunts are composed by ‘Dalapathi’ Dinesh.
