Independence day special programmes



Celebrating Independence: on Vijay TV.

Saluting the heroes

Vijay TV has lined-up some special programmes for its viewers on Independence Day.

The day begins with, Manikodiyin Mainthan, a special segment on the life history of Thiruppur Kumaran, at 7.30 a.m.

An interesting debate entwined with humour with Dindigul I.Leoni as the moderator will be aired at 8 a.m.

A special segment of ‘Idhayam Manthra Koffee with Anu,’ will be aired at 9.00 a.m. in which yesteryear actors Manorama and Chachu, will share their experiences.

Hutch Kalakka Povadhu Champions-3,’ will be aired at 10 a.m. A gala event to celebrate the grand success of the film Chennai 600028 will conclude the forenoon session at 11 a.m.

The afternoon session rolls out exciting programmes like ‘Ethu Sudhandhiram,’ at 1 p.m. Join the ‘Mozhi’ film crew as they celebrate the success of the film at 2 p.m. At 3 p.m. have a taste of the just-released ‘Pallikoodam.’

This will be followed by the star-studded show, Vijay Awards, at 4 p.m. The programme also features some foot-tapping numbers by the stars. And there is much more in the pipeline.

On SS Music

SS Music rolls out an array of special programmes on Independence Day. In ‘Footprints Timeout’ aired at 12.30, discover the charms of the 18,440-hectare Pulicat lagoon, which runs parallel to the Bay of Bengal across the Tamil Nadu – Andhra Pradesh border.

This one-hour programme, with a liberal dose of history, encores the next day at 21.00.

In ‘Be free with VJs,’ to be aired at 7.45 p.m., unravel the charms of Puducherry as the VJs visit this union territory, where the French influence is still prevalent.

A tete-a-tete with Ramachandra Guha, historian and writer, at 6 p.m., and special episodes of films, ‘Rameswaram’ starring Jeeva and Bhavana at 12 No on and Jeevan starrer ‘Machakkaran,’ at 21.00 are among the other items to follow.

On Asianet

The channel rolls out a wide range of programmes on this day which starts off with ‘Swatantriya Geethangal’ at 6.30 a.m.

In ‘Suprabhatham,’ the breakfast show, a discussion on freedom struggle and the leaders who fought for the Independence of our nation will be featured.

Also aired are Interviews with Jomol (12.00) and Meera Vasudev (17.30) and a special episode on the making of the Suresh Gopi starrer ‘Black Cat.R 17;‘Made in U.S.A.’ will be premiered on the small screen at 1.30 p.m. and ‘Vietnam Colony’ at 9 p.m.

On Surya TV

The special programmes on this channel include a feature film and interviews with film stars.

The day begins on a musical note with ‘Fusion’ at 6.30 a.m., followed by ‘Ponpulari,’ the breakfast show at 7 a.m.

Naalathe Pularikal,’ a special documentary follows at 8.30 a.m. Blockbuster ‘Chadikatha Chandu,’ starring Jayasoorya, Navya Nair, Vineeth and Bhavana, will be telecast a t 9 a.m.

A tête-À-tête with Sridevika at 11.30 a.m. will be followed by interviews with Major Ravi at 12 noon and with Simran at 12.30 p.m.
