Asianet festival spread

The Asianet Onam festival will be celebrated from August 17 to 31.

Fifteen years ago, Asianet heralded the beginning of a new era that changed forever the viewing habits of Malayalis.

Celebrating this in style is a two-week programme menu that promises to be an entertaining bouquet of interviews, films, special programmes and music-based shows. The fete begins on August 17 and will continue till August 31.

A journey thorough Malabar introduces viewers to many traditional and folk art forms and images of Onam. Interviews with K.J. Yesudas, K.S. Chitra, P. Jayachandran, Mamu Koya, Remya Nambeeshan, S. Janaky, Vani Jairam, Samvratha Sunil and Meera Vasudev take you close to the lives of the stars who have continued to entertain us over the years.

Taste of Onam

Stars who have become household names, courtesy mega serials, will also talk about their lives away from the arc lights.

‘Onam Cookery’ gives viewers a taste of Onam while the popular ‘De Maveli Kombathu’ brings the best of parody that have never stopped amusing listeners and viewers. Special live programmes will give viewers a glimpse of the Onam celebrations of non-resident Keralites.

How can Onam be complete without the presence of the skilled comedians who have a special place in the programmes of Asinaet.

Fete specials: A two-week programme menu promises to be an entertaining bouquet of interviews, films, special programmes and music-based shows.

‘60 mimicrykarum, 600 navum’ will see those seasoned actors transport couch potatoes to a world of laughter. ‘15 years of Cinema’ will be a medley of the episodes that left viewers in splits.

‘Nava Kerala Onam,’ ‘Onam Street Shopping,’ ‘Chinganilavu,’ ‘Onakazhchakal,’ and many music-based shows promise to make it a gala Onam celebration on the small screen.

Movies buffs will have episodes devoted to the Onam releases, interviews and films.

The line-up of stars who will appear in different shows during the festival includes Mohanlal, Mammootty, Sreenivasan, Jagathy Sreekumar, Prithviraj, Kavya Madhavan, Navya Nair, Prabhu Deva, Bharat, Prabu, Samvratha Sunil and Priyadarshan. Games, reality shows, and prizes for viewers have also been included.
