Simplicity, his forte
Mundur Krishnankutty was a writer and humanist who, through his writings, immortalised the simplicity and complexities of life in his own village, Mundur. This is the message conveyed by the documentary, ‘Mundurinte Kathavazhikal.’
“I collected and read his works such as ‘Moonnamatoral,’ ‘Enne Verute Vittalum,’ ‘Ammini Teacher,’ ‘Manassu Enna Bharam’ and ‘Kanarante Vidhi’ in order to understand the man he was,” says Santhosh Karimpuzha, director and scenarist of the 26-minute-long documentary on Mundur.
Easy reading
Known among his friends as ‘A.P,’ Mundur Krishnankutty wrote short stories and novels in a style and idiom that any person could understand. As one who lived amidst the people of his village, the life he portrayed was not far removed from them. ‘Mundurinte Kathavazhikal’ unravels the life of Mundur as teacher, dramatist, actor, short-story writer and novelist through the reminiscences of some of his long-time associates.
