Heart Soothing Anita Singhvi at the Sufi Music festival Sada-e-Sufi

The Sufi India Foundation and Husan Ara Trust dedicated this past Sunday evening to Sufi music. Well-known singer Anita Singhvi gave a heart-soothing rendition of Sufi songs at New Delhi’s Kamani auditorium.

Titled “Sada-e-Sufi”, the evening, attended by guests like Vice President Hamid Ansari, Gursharan Kaur, wife of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Lieutenant-Governor Tejender Khanna ICCR Chairman Karan Singh, A. R. Kidwai, Governor of Haryana, and Yogendra Narain, Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha, became a VVIP event.

The singer did, however, impress the audience with her impeccable performance. Anita is the recipient of several awards, including the Rajiv Gandhi Rashtriya Ekta Award, Urdu Poets Award, Mahila Shiromani Award, Kalptaru Award, Fakr-e-Hind Award and Mallika-e-Tarranum Award.

With one album, Naqsh-e-Noor, under her belt, she is readying for the launch of yet another, titled “Zahe-Naseeb”.

It will have music by the legendary composer Khayyam.

Reaching God

Talking about Sufism, Anita said that God Himself identifies a person for His ibaadat who has a pure heart, and Sufism guides a man to reach God.

The sole motive of the event, she added, was to disseminate the message of love, peace and fraternity and to shed hatred. All the songs had the invocation of the Almighty.
