A presentation on the life of Khadga Tikkana.

A historical drama, Khadga Tikkana, produced by Saibaba Natyamandali and organised by Sidhardha Kala Peetham of Vijayawada was presented at the Kala Peetham’s venue the Sidhardha auditorium. The large crowd thoroughly enjoyed
the show. The episode taken from the history of the Chola Dynasty that ruled the Nellore region three centuries ago, deals with the valour of Khadga Tikkana who was the minister and army commander for Raja Nalla Sidhi. He was also a cousin of ‘Kavibramha’ Tikkana who was a legendary literary figure.
Neighbouring king Katamaraju whose wealth was the enormous cattle he possessed. A dispute arises between Nalla Sidhi and Katamaraju which eventually leads to a major war. Nallasidhi’s army led by Khadga Tikkana gets defeated. When Tikkana returns home, his wife Danamma and his mother insult by offering bangles to him. Thus insulted, Tikkana returns to the battle field, fights fiercely but dies on the battle field. His wife also dies along with him performing ‘Sati’ (Sahagamanam).
The drama was marked with superb acting and high technical values. P.V.N. Krishna penned the drama, directed it and also played the main role of ‘Khadga Tikkana’ with finesse.
