COMPILED BY SANGEETHA DEVI DUNDOO

‘The Last Lear’ goes to Toronto

Amitabh Bachchan has donned many a role, but The Last Lear will be his first full-length English feature film. The Rituparno Ghosh directed film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9. Apart from Bac hchan, the film stars Preity Zinta, Arjun Rampal and Shefali Shah and has been selected as the centrepiece of the festival. The Last Lear has been shot in and around Kolkata and the mountains of Mussoorie.

Hollywood hunt for ‘Delhi 6’

After the magnum opus Rang De Basanti, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is working on Delhi 6, for which initially he zeroed in on Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth. The team has gone through several changes since then and will feature none of these actors. Reportedly, Mehra is planning to cast a Hollywood actor for the lead role. Mehra remains tight-lipped about the film and its cast.

Abhishek mooted the sequel idea

Ram Gopal Varma has been crying hoarse that Sarkar Raj, the sequel to Sarkar, has nothing to do with Godfather 2. What very few know is that the idea of the sequel stemmed from Abhishek Bachchan . Varma has been busy completing the film that stars Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Tanisha. Abhishek, according to Varma, also came up with a few interesting pointers that he felt should be incorporated in the sequel.

The remake fever

This Friday, Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag (inspired by Sholay) will have to compete with another remake – Victoria no. 203. The latter, unlike Aag, has been kept low profile with very little pre-release promotion. Victoria no. 203 stars Jimmy Shergill, Anupam Kher, Om Puri and Soniya Mehra (actor Vinod Mehra’s daughter), who will be making her debut as an actress.
