When 10-year-old Santiago Munez (Kuno Becker) crossed the Mexican border into America, he had two things in his possession: his football and a tattered picture of the World Cup.
Growing up in Los Angeles, Santiago dreams of becoming an international football star. But his father doesn’t share his vision. When Santiago is spotted at a local match by Brit scout Glen Foy (Stephen Dillane), he gets a chance to play in the big league with Newcastle United. However, muddy fields, cold wind and crunching blows from teammates, are just a few obstacles Santiago must overcome to reach his goal. Also starring Alessandro Nivola and Anna Friel.
