Veena Navaratri festival
The first ‘Veena Navaratri’ festival will be held in Chennai, September 11-19. The festival will be jointly organised by the Veena Foundation, New Delhi, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Narada Gana Sabha, Sri Krishna Gana Sabh
a, Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, Kartik Fine Arts and Sri Tyagaraja Vidwat Samajam, Chennai.
This event will feature over 30 distinguished veena artistes and accompanists in concert tradition.
Padmavathy Ananthagopalan will perform on the inaugural day (September 11, 5.45 p.m.).

Other artistes who will perform at the festival are: B. Kannan is scheduled to perform on Sept. 12, 6.30 p.m., Suma Sudhindra (Bangalore) and B. Divya, S.R.Padmavathy and Rama Raghuraman (Sept. 13, 5.15 p.m.), Revathy Krishna and S. Srinivasan (Sept. 14, 5.45 p.m.), Vasant Kumar (Sept. 15, 6.30 p.m.), Veena Venkatramani, Jayasri and Jeyaraaj, R. Venkatraman (Tiruvananthapuram), (Sept. 16, 4 p.m.), S.P.Ramh (Sept. 17, 6.30 p.m.), Shivkumar (Tiruchi) and Jayalakshmi Shekar (Sept. 18, 5.45 p.m.) and Jayanthi Kumaresh and Geetha Krishnamurthy (Sept. 19, 5.45 p.m.).
