As part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Bharatiya Vidya Kendra, its Music and Dance School, Nritya Kala Bharathi, presented a delightful Bharatanayam solo recital by its senior student Ch. Neelima in Kalabharati last Friday.

An enjoyable start with Neelima’s Alaripu in Raagamalika in Misrachapu and a Swarapallavi in Aditalam in Hindolam, was followed by a Sabdam in Raagamalika, charmingly presented by young pupils of the school, sprightly looking Abhigna and Shalini. Then came the main item âNritya Kalyaniâ by Neelima, a lyric with eight stanzas scripted by Sitarama Kavi, set to different ragas in Roopakatalam.

The presentation lasted for about 70 minutes. It was marked by the scintillating footwork in perfect conformity with the nattuvangam executed with precision by the Principal of the School, Natyacharya Avasarala Rukmaji Rao, who also choreographed it. A composition of Annamayya by the young pupils and a Thilana in Brindavanasaranga by Neelima provided the grand finale.

The music backdrop had vocals by Dr. V. K. G. Thyagaraju Dwaram, exhilarating mridangam by M. Edukondalu, morsing by T. Chaitanya, violin by M. Neeladri Rao and flute by D. Raja Rao. While chief guest Sadguru Sriman K. Sivananda Murty blessed the artistes, Swarnotsava Committee honorary and working presidents, former Principal of B. V. K. College, Pilla Rama Rao, former Mayor D. V. Subba Rao, presented mementos.
