Full of charm Amritha delineates a ‘jati’
Visakha Music and Dance Academy featured a Kuchipudi recital in its auditorium Kalabharati by child artiste (12 years) Amritha P. Nair of Anantapur on Saturday last. Starting her recital with Gajavadana beduve a Purandhara Dasa kri
ti , she presented an ‘ashtapadi’ of Jayadeva next in Ragamalika (Adi talam) depicting how Radha elucidated the Rasleela to her sakhis. Then she took up Vachhenu Alamelu Manga of Annamayya set to Hindolam (Adi talam) in which she made a good effort surfacing the navarasas as they get visualised in the lyric. The Kamalamanohari krithi of Dikshitar –KanjadalayataakshiKamakshi and a tillana again in Hindolam provided the finale.
The flair with which she achieved fluidity in ‘padachalanam’, exhibition of ‘mudra’, ‘bhangima’ and ‘bhavam’ was
enchanting. It also overshadowed the lapses in sruti and laya alignment that occurred in nattuvangam and vocal rendered by guru Vedantam S.N. Sastry. Bhanuprasad of Hyderabad on mridangam, Subrahmanyeswara Raju of Kuchipudi on violin and local artiste T. Atchutha Rao on flute lent good support.
