String story Puppets narrate the tale.
Two enjoyable cultural events took place in Vijayawada last weekend. The one that was held at the Sidhardha auditorium was organised by Mummaneni Subbarao Sidhardha Kala Peetham. It was a rare and novel entertainment in the form of a puppet show (keelu bommalata).
The story of Mairavana Vadha was beautifully shown through the attractively made up puppets. The troupe that presented the charming show hailed from the village of Sikhapur, Nayaghar District, Orissa and comprised expert artistes Abhimanyu Sahu, Niranjan Sahu, Khadala Barik, Kartik Muduli and Bhavagrahi Sahu.
The other programme held at Sri Sivaramakrishna Kshetram and organised by Vijayawada Cultural Academy presented a number of dances by young talented dancers. All the dances were dedicated to Lord Krishna and the programme was titled Srikrishna Nritya Malika. Good performances were given by dancers Rasagna, Lakshmiteja, Kartika, Jasmine, Meena, Veronica, Santi, Sridevi, Swapna and several others.
