Melodic tribute
Smriti and Canara Union Arts Section present a Hindustani vocal recital by Ganapathi Bhat Hasanagi on October 28, 2007. This concert is a tribute to Pandit Rama Rao Naik and Ustad Khadim Husain Khan.
Before the concert there will also be a felicitation to C.G. Ananthaswamy, a well-known figure in the Hindustani classical music scene of Bangalore for the last 40 years.
In addition to having learnt music himself and playing the harmonium, he has devoted considerable time as a selfless patron of music.
He has founded many music sabhas like the Hindustani Sangeet Kalakar Mandali, Kalashree, Smrithi, Shruti and others. Ananthaswamy, in his long association with music, has encouraged many new comers and outstation artistes, organises concerts regularly in his own house since the last three decades and helps any music organisation whenever necessary.
Pandit Ganapati Bhat Hasanagi, a leading Hindustani vocalist, is the disciple of Pt. Basavaraj Rajguru. Blessed with a deep rich and resonant voice, Ganapati Bhat’s deep sonorous voice is surcharged with emotion. His presentations of ragas show his thorough grounding in the Khayal technique.
The venue of this programme is Canara Union, 5.30 p.m.
