As the winter tip-toes in North India, music seems to have found a new high. Sandeep Chowta, the music composer, who has given us scores like “Mast”, “Jungle”, “Satya” and “Asoka” proved the universalit
y of music by roping in the internationally acclaimed classical guitar players, Maurizio Colonna and Frank Gambale, to perform in Delhi.
International success
While Maurizio is an internationally recognised classical guitar player who has won many awards and has also authored books on music and techniques of playing guitar.
Frank had a successful stint with the Super group, the electric band, which won Grammy Award in 1988. The duo was excited about their first performance in India, where they defined India as the great destination for music.
On a sincere effort to blend the essence of the East and the West, Sandeep said, “It was an attempt towards reducing the curiosity level of people outside India about Indian music.” Sandeep explained further, “I want people to know what one means by great masters.” For him it’s a dream come true to work with the acclaimed guitarists. A perfectionist by nature, he aims towards bringing the fusion of all flavours of music.
Classical music being his first love, he said, “I have a deep relation with classical music and I want to continue with it.”
Maurizio added, “Indian people are intelligent, friendly and gracious.”
Talking about the duo, Sandeep said, “When they perform, they raise the level of music. They have a limitless reservoir of melody.”
