Noteworthy effort Students present a performance.
An entertainment event presented by pupils of Lebenshilfe, a residential institute for rehabilitation of mentally challenged children below 18, was the highlight of the cultural programme organised by Snehanjali Arts Academy last Saturday in Kalabharati.
Empathetically moved after witnessing the miserable plight of a few mentally challenged children, T. Saraswathi Devi, a teacher in Ranichandramani Devi Hospital for physically challenged children, wished to do something for the children. With financial aid from Lebenshilfe of Germany and International Institute of Special Education (US), she set up the institute. The children performed the musical skits Kodipandelu, Puliveta and Sankranthi Sambaralu, took part in mimicry, light and classical music evoking appreciation from all alike in the auditorium.
Interspersed with group dances in Kuchipudi by the pupils of Sri Sainadha Kalaa Samithi, mimicry by F.M. Bhaskar, splendid rendering of cine songs (Hindi and Telugu) by young children Ruksana, Anuhya and Shabeena and finally by the founder president of the Academy V.N. Murty, it turned out to be a grand evening.
Winner of gold and silver medals in the International Shuttle Badminton tournament recently held in Australia, Barri Venkata Satya Kanakalingeswara Rao (VSP employee), and actress Kavitha were honoured.
