As part of their ‘Celebrating Theatre’ series, Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Foundation in association with ITC Hotel The Kakatiya presents _ ‘Feminine Encounters : Between Text and Performance’ – a session with eminent theatre
director and chairperson of the National School of Drama, Amal Allana, daughter of the father of modern theatre in India Ebrahim Alkazi, who talks on the emerging trends of text and performance and theatre practices of women directors in the country, at Saptaparni (Rd No. 8, Banjara Hills) on November 18, 6.30p.m.
Amal Allana graduated from the National School of Drama in 1968, majoring in Direction. Her further studies in Direction were in the Berliner Ensemble, the National Theatre, Weimar, and the State Theatre at Dresden, GDR. Her productions of Brecht’s The Good Woman of Setzuan, Strindberg’s Miss Jule and Wedekind’s Spring Awakening received critical acclaim. In 1975, she was awarded the Homi Bhabha Fellowship for her research in traditional Indian and Japanese Theatre. She is also popular for her television serials like Raj se Swaraj and Mulla Nasruddin. She is a recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi award. Her hour-long talk, will be followed by a question answer session.

The Ikebana International Hyderabad Chapter is hosting the 10th Asian Regional Conference from November 16 and November at HICC, Hyderabad.
Around 300 delegates from 28 countries will be attending this conference. Delegates will be exhibiting their Ikebana flower arrangements at HICC on November 18 and 19.
Principal Guest Masters from Japan and others will give an Ikebana demonstration at Shilpakala Vedika on November 18.
