MALATHI RANGARAJAN

The Bachchans and Sonam Kapoor

We don’t know when Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra will finally get down to working on Delhi 6, a film that has been delayed for a while. Meanwhile, he has begun contemplating on his next film, Bhairavi. For this film, he is keen to cast Amitabh, Jaya and Abhishek Bachchan. If the trio agree to go on board for the project, we shall see them talking about music and creativity. Bhairavi is a film on classical music. For Delhi 6 too, Mehra is keen on roping in Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role. He has already finalised Sonam Kapoor as the leading lady.

Irrfan in Ocean’s 14?

That’s the buzz nowadays. Irrfan is being approached by national and international film-makers ever since he acted in Mira Nair’s The Namesake and did a supporting role in A Mighty Heart. Irrfan is reportedly being considered for a role in Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Fourteen, which will also include George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Irrfan refuses to comment until things are finalised. Back home, he is being selective about his Hindi films.

Priyanka gets fashion conscious

Like Madhur Bhandarkar’s previous films Chandni Bar, Satta, Page 3, Corporate and Traffic Signal, Fashion too will have women in focus. Priyanka Chopra dons the lead role in this film that will mirror the ways of the fashion industry. But once this project is done with, Madhur wants to take a break from women-centric movies. His next project will be called Jail, a story of three male prisoners.

Tabu and Naseer to work together

The year has been a successful one for Tabu. With The Namesake and Cheeni Kum, the actress couldn’t have asked for more. She has been approached by leading film-makers.

As always, going by instinct, she has also consented to act in a film to be directed by Deepak Tijori.

The film will also star Naseeruddin Shah. Tijori, we learn, was apprehensive to approach such seasoned actors and was pleasantly surprised when both of them agreed to be part of his project.
