All about family bond

S.R.ASHOK KUMAR

Director Anand highlights the strength of a loving home in ‘Kanna.’

Parental affection: Kanna

The Film City at Tharamani was bustling with activity. The crew of ‘Kanna,’ produced by Kosmic Film Entertainment, was busy preparing for the shot.

On the one side of the set, new find hero Raja was memorising his lines, while heroine Sheela was busy giving finishing touches to her make-up.

Actor Prakash Raj, father of the heroine, was glued to the mobile phone. His pair, Seetha, was in a discussion with the production manager. Director Anand was giving instruction to his cinematographer Tajmal, obviously about camera angles. .

Relaxing after the shot, Anand said it will be a must see for all parents and the teenagers.

“It is a family-oriented subject and will suit all members. As a director I have a responsibility to society and therefore make sure that all my films have a message as an undercurrent. ‘Kanna,’ for which I have written the screenplay is no exception.”

Emotion and entertainment

Prakash Raj, hopping from one set to another, said, “I’m enjoying myself observing my daughter, to do my role better. In fact, it is one of the good roles that I am doing in recent times.”

For Seetha it is a cake walk. “I know what parental love is and this film has a beautifully etched script with lots of emotions and also entertainment judiciously mixed.

“Director Anand has an amazing way of handling artists and that keeps all of us in high sprits,” she said.

“My heroine is a sixteen year old girl whose self realisation makes the movie more interesting,” said Anand.

“Her infatuation gives her family and friends a trying time and how they deal with it is the highlight.

It is a beautiful family drama with melodious music by Ranjit Barot. I can promise that the entire family can sit and watch the film,” he added.

Livingston, ‘Vennira Adai’ Murthy, Sabitha Anand, Sona Nair and Manikavinayagam are doing the other important roles.

Editing is done by Edwin and art is taken care of by D. Muthuraj.
