Eloquent expressions: Pranathi Ramadorai
Pranathi Ramadorai, a disciple of guru Radha was featured in Natyarangam’s programme for young talent. Attired in a bright pink costume, Pranathi’s eloquent eyes and mobile face established an instant rapport with the audience in her opening number, Pushpanjali of Gangamuthu Nattuvanar.
Periyasami Thooran’s varnam, ‘Nandagopalane’ in Bhairavi (Adi) was an ideal choice for this young girl. Krishna is a subject which appeals to all age groups. Pranathi felt at home portraying the various stories and leelas of Krishna. The jatis were executed with competence. Guru Radha’s choreographic mastery was evident in the lines. ‘Vinnum, Mannum’ wherein familiar episodes like Kaliya Mardana and Govardhana Giri were portrayed with quick suggestions and succession to the rhythmic beats of the mridangam. A Kavadi Chindu composition of Subramanya Bharati which followed, revealed Pranathi’s talent in communicating stories of Valli and Muruga with suitable expressions. Pranathi trained well both in nritta and abhinaya has the potential to grow with sustained effort in her art.
The musical ensemble of guru Radha on the nattuvangam, Radha Badri on the vocals, Kalaiarasan on the violin and Dhananjayan on the mridangam lent melodic support to the recital.
