A classical music performance by students of three music schools brought out young talent to the fore.

Unique concert Children rendering kritis.
It was a unique programme of classical music by kids. Organised by Sujanaranjani, a musical organisation promoting classical music, the three music schools which participated included Mahati Music Institute of Yousufguda, Prachotan Music Academy of J
ayaprakash Nagar and Keerthana Institute of Music. While the venue was Hanuman Devasthanam auditorium, about two dozen children took part in the programme. Each group was given compositions of one of the vaggeyakaras Annamacharya, Ramadasu, Narayana Teertha, Purandaradasa and Thyagaraja.
All the concerts had Maruthi Kiran on keyboard, Gunaranjan on tabla and Janardan on mridangam. This was also a strange combination. Of the entire show, eight-year-old D.L.Prachotan and Malladi Soumya impressed. Prachotan rendered Rara Rajeevalochana in Mohana and Yemayya Rama in Kambhoji, a Ramadas kirtana. He could render the compositions with gamakas. This prodigious talent is already giving concerts. These were brief solos, while rest of the compositions was rendered by ten students in chorus.
The notable renditions were Podagantimayya in Mohana, Kalasapuramu and Govindasrita in Vasanta. These and other two compositions were of Annamacharya. While Devulapalli Sirisha was the music teacher, the kids included Haritha, Sarika, Seshasai and Sriya amongst others.
Mahati Music School specialised in Purandaradasa and Narayana Teertha compositions. Dooru Maduvarena in Behag, Dayamado in Desh both of Purandara Dasa; Rere Manasa in Bowli and He Rama in Mohana of Narayana Teertha, Kodanda Rama in Mayamalavagowla and Rama Rama Yani in Yaman of Ramadasu were impressive renditions. Harshita, Sahiti, Snehita, Bhargavi, Sriniza, Snigdha and others were in this group.
The renditions by Pawan, Manogjna, Veena and Tejaswi of Keerthana Institute were absorbing. Disciples of Kamalaramani, a senior musician, the Utsava sampradaya compositions of Thyagaraja formed the repertoire of which Sitakalyana Vaibhogame, Sobhane, Patiki Harateeyare and Uyyalaloogavayya are worth mentioning.
