It was Jingle bells Jingle bells already at the festival of Choiresters, who gave a scintillating performance at Ravindra Bharati on November 25. Some of the well known choirs compositions were presented by a group of amateur singe
rs of the twin cities. There were a few well-known senior Government officials too as part of the choir. There was no age bar for the choir as the performers were between 15 and 82.
The choir was conducted by T.M.J.Champion and Alfred Kanagaraj. Both of them had excellent control over the group and the rendition was spell binding and added to the festive atmosphere in the jam packed auditorium.
The Wonder of Christmas written and composed by John.W.Peterson, Mary, Mary, written and composed by Mary Donelly and George L Ostrid, and For unto us a child is born from Handel’s Messiah, were very beautifully presented by the choir.
The choir group was appropriately dressed for the performance. The accompanying artistes on the piano and violin were in sync with the choir and it was indeed a wonderful musical evening.
Subsequent to the choir group rendering few selected songs, the community singing added to the religious fervour ushering in the Christmas season, as the large gathering joined the choir to render the carols and ended with We wish you a merry Christmas. For a moment it felt that it was December 25 and not November 25. The choiresters welcomed the Christmas season in the right spirit.
