let’s enjoy Some of the participants at the launch of “Say Shaava Shaava” in New Delhi.

In the torrent of reality shows, this one is being touted as short and sweet. Called “Say Shaava Shaava”, it is going to be the driver show of NDTV Imagine to be launched in January.

The title reminds one of the song from Karan Johar’s “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham”, and the director is indeed there in the show as a judge. Describing the show as a family entertainer, Karan says, “There won’t be any acrimony on the show. Nobody will fight with the judge or among themselves. There would be a marriage-like atmosphere, where celebrity participants will sing and perform.”

Karan’s Dharma Productions has a stake in the channel but he denies that there are plans of him directing a series for the channel. “I am busy with my film. So for the time being I can do only small appearances like this one. However, in 2009 I am planning to bring my chat show on the channel.” For the uninitiated, his “Koffee with Karan” is a Star property.

The participants include some of the known names of the television industry like Aman Verma, Apoorva Agnihotri, Juhi Parmar, Sumeet Raghvan and Narayani Shastri. Ali Asgar is the host of the show.

But Karan to judge somebody’s singing ability? “We want to create a family atmosphere on the sets with some singing and dancing. And this is what Karan’s films are all about,” says Sameer Nair, CEO, NDTV Imagine. “So we thought he is the best guy to appreciate such performance.” Sameer says the show will last only eleven episodes. He is open to include celebrity judges whose films would release during that period. “I am fine with this trend as long such judges are made integral to the episode. Both the parties get benefited from the exercise, but there should not be any in-your-face publicity,” adds Sameer.
