Music festival
Carnatica and Universal Fine Arts (London) in association with Swaralaya (Sydney, Australia) has organised a thematic music festival titled, ‘Samarpanam,’ from December 16 to 24, in which musicians, b
oth Indians and NRIs, will participate.
The event, co-sponsored by ‘Carnatic Run Musical’ and CCRI/ACRI Pondy (Reunion), will be held at Swamy’s Hall, R. K. Mutt Road, Mandaveli. Eminent artistes such as Nedunuri Krishnamurthy, Umayalpuram Sivaraman, V.V.Subrahmanyam and Haridwaramangalam A.K.Palanivel will be felicitated on the inaugural day (Dec.16) at 6 p.m.
This will be followed by Sangeetha Sangamam, a music medley of Carnatic, Hindustani and Western music at 7 p.m.
The programme will be presented by Haridwaramangalam A. K. Palanivel (tavil), Nick Higgins (saxophone), Anil Srinivasan (piano), Durai Balasubramaniam (violin), B. Sivaramakrishna (sitar) and N. Amrit (kanjira).
The nine-day event will also feature thematic concerts to be rendered by both eminent and up-and-coming artistes (Indian and NRI musicians).
