Like a seasoned magician

Kurella Trust’s Awards function saw Pavanesh Kumar’s hands do magic.

Enlivening and enchanting show of magic by B.A. first year student Pavanesh Kumar of M.R. College (Vizianagaram) and an exhibition of works of art in water-colours by K. Lavanya, Standard VII student of St. Joseph’s Girls High School, Visakhapa tnam, marked the cultural programme organised at the Kurella Trust’s Awards function in Kalabharati last Sunday.

While Kumar performed magic like a seasoned professional, the works of art replete with aesthetic schemes of colours with imagination, especially the series of scapes of nature immediately arrested every body’s attention.

Later the 15th annual function of the Sahitya Seva Samithi, Kurella Someswara Rao and Sita Music and Dance Academy Trust’s was held with the District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the Legal Services Authority, R. Kanta Rao, in the chair.

As Vemuganti Vasudeva Rao compered, toppers of Stadard VII from 30 schools in the fields of music, dance, general knowledge, painting, drawing, sports and games were given Vidya and Samskruthi awards. B. Sriramulu of George Special Upper Primary School from Anakapalle and M. Nageswari from Viswodaya High School in Meghadripeta, Visakhapatnam, were given Best Teacher Awards, U.V. Varaprasad, teacher from MPP School, Vijayanandapuram, and S.V. Subhasri, teacher from Balabhanu Vidyalayam in Visakhapatnam were given awards for Best Social Service.

Eminent personalities from Sahityam Kaalipatnam Ramarao (poet writer and critic from Srikakulam); ‘Ganakalabharati’ Manda Sudharani (music); N. Prasanna Radhika (dance); P.T. Madhav (drama); Dvivedula Somanatha Sastry (painting); K. Jyotiswaroop (photography); P.V. Rama Sarma (cartoon); Jampana Kumaravarma (journalism) andC.S. Rao (social service) were honoured on the occasion.
