Entertainment for the family

M.L. NARASIMHAM

Yet another only-the-lonely story.

Actress of calibre Bhavana has a scope to emote.

A well-dressed young man waits on his bike in an isolated street in Film Nagar. Two college-going girls emerge from one of the houses. Unmindful of his presence they walk past him. The man gets down from his bike and tries to chat up one of the girls . She simply ignores him and walks fast. A soft voice from behind shouts ‘cut.’ The camera whirrs to a stop.

The youth is Gopichand and the girl with whom he tries to pick up a conversation with is the much successful Malayalam and Tamil star Bhavana. Director B.V. Ramana who ordered the ‘cut’ is filming the sequence for Ontari.

“The hero hails from a prosperous and large family. He has just completed his studies and is on a sabbatical before kicking off his career. Then he falls in love with a college girl. One unexpected turn of event changes his life. The happy go lucky young man with affectionate parents (Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao and Indu Anand) and two brothers (Naresh and Chitti) suddenly finds himself a loner. What made him ontari and how he fights the villains in the game (Ashish Vidyardhi, Ajay, Raghu Babu and Supreeth) and thwarted their plans forms the crux,” reveals Ramana.

Gopichand’s career graph has zoomed with Lakshyam. “He has won over the family audiences with that film,” says Ramana. Ontari will further enhance his bond with the mass, youth as well as the womenfolk who form a major portion of our moviegoers.

“A fine actress of the calibre of a Soundarya, Bhavana through her characters can switch over from bubbly to sensitivity in a jiffy. She has done that in many Malayalam and in some Tamil films including the recent release, Rameswararam. She has a scope to emote in this entertainer,” declares the director.

The unit is shifting to another location.

Cinematographer Sarvesh Murari’s assistants along with the outdoor unit members in liaison with the production staff are making the necessary arrangements of moving the equipment in vehicles.

The action sequences gel with the script, shot with actors in a realistic way and not as if they popped out of CG studio.

“They are not unbelievable graphics that even a child among the audience can identify. I always feel that technique should not dominate the content. Fights director Vijay has come up with near natural looking compositions for the action blocks. Two of which remains to be shot in the coming schedule,” said Ramana.

The unit then moved to the Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce buildings in the locality. The camera and the reflectors and other paraphernalia are placed in the open space opposite to the Andhra Bank housed in the same complex. The scene involves Naresh and Bhavana. Naresh comes out of the bank.

Bhavana greets him and the two converse for a few minutes. “The two scenes we shot today are not related. They come at different places,” says Ramana clearing the air.

The January release has Sayaji Shinde, Ali, Suneel and Rajitha in the cast.
