TV HIGHLIGHTS: THE WEEK AHEAD

Christmas programmes

It is a line-up of special programmes for Amrita TV this Christmas Day. Join the fun with ‘Junior Super Stars’ Lincy, Pradhish and Al-Sabith, and children of St. Albert’s Orphanage in ‘Twinkle Twinkle Super Star’ at 9.00.

Spend Christmas at the home of noted ‘Amrita Super Star’ keyboardist Stephen Devassy in ‘Christmas Virunnu.’ The programme features songs by Stephen along with Amrita TVs ‘Super Star’ Sangeeth and finalists Job, Ajay, Nidhish, and Mridula. The programme is anchored by Raj Kalesh at 12 noon. Amrita TV telecasts a Priyadarshan movie, ‘Rakilipattu’ starring Jyothika and Tabu, at 13.30.

The programme ‘Christmas Star Lights’ celebrates the festival with celebrities Roma, Karthika and Arun at 10.00.

There will be special episodes of ‘Super Dancer Junior’ (19.00.), ‘Super Star Global’ (20.00), and ‘Best Actor’ (21.00) with celebrity artistes. An interesting programme, ‘Santa Claus Comes to Town’ has Santa Claus visiting colleges, shopping malls, bakery, homes, road junctions and interacting with the public and singing carols with them at 11.00.

The Christmas special actually kicks off on December 24 with ‘Jacob,’ which will be based on Bible stories.

Amrita TV will be beaming a live telecast of the midnight mass on Christmas Eve.

Surya TV



Star talk on Surya TV at 12.30, December 25.

Christmas celebrations on Surya TV begin with a programme of Christmas carols called ‘Gloria 2007’ at 6.00. on December 25.

A special episode of ‘Pon Pulari,’ the breakfast show on the channel, will be followed by Christmas songs at 8.30. ‘Christmas Puthiya Pattukal’ at 9.00 will include songs from the latest Christmas releases such as ‘Kathaparayumbol,’ ‘Flash,’ ‘Kangaroo’ and ‘Romeo.’

At 12 noon, anchorpersons of the channel come together for a fun show called ‘Kalichirineeram.’ Mohanal’s interview will be telecast at 12.30. An interview with Kamal Haasan at 17.00 will be preceded by a tete-a-tete with Kavya Madhavan at 16.30.

Three movies will be telecast on Christmas Day. The superhit Mammootty-starrer ‘Rajamanikyam’ will be telecast at 9.30., followed by ‘Chakaramuthu,’ starring Dileep and Kavya Madhavan, at 13.15. and ‘Tiger,’ starring Suresh Gopi and Gopika, at 17.30.

An interview with Meena at 21.00 is one of the highlights in the evening. A special programme at 22.00 will throw light on the new Christmas releases.

‘Thanmatra’ on Asianet, at 17.00, December 22.

The four-day Christmas programmes on Asianet try to cater to each member in the family. The programmes include interviews, talk shows, music, films and special programmes for the season.

The programmes on Asianet begin at 9.00 on Saturday with the re-telecast of the 100th day celebration of Idea Star Singer. A telefilm ‘Hope River’ at 14.30 will be followed by an interview with Captain Raju at 16.30. ‘Thanmatra’ will be telecast at 17.00.

‘X-Mas Choir’ at 7.00 sets the tone for the day on Sunday (December 23), followed by a special programme called ‘Christmas Varumbol’ at 7.35. and ‘Electric Christmas’ at 8.00. A chat with Sreelatha Nambudiri has been scheduled at 10.00. ‘Sarkar Dada,’ starring Jayaram, will be telecast at 13.30.

Monday morning (December 24) has a feature called ‘O Jesus’ at 8.35. ‘Thiranottam’ at 12 noon focusses on the new releases of the season. ‘Snake,’ a telefilm will be aired at 12.30.

Christmas Day on Tuesday has a bonanza for movie buffs. ‘Pandipada’ (9.00), ‘Nerariyan CBI’ (13.15) and ‘Naran’ (17.30) will be telecast. ‘Innu X-Mas’ at 12 noon captures the sprit of the season while the Cinemala team comes up with a skit at 17.00. Participants of ‘Idea Star Singer’ have something special for viewers at 21.30.

Asianet News

Asianet News also celebrates Christmas with a host of special programmes to usher in the festive air. ‘Our X-mas Kalathu’ at 8.30 on Tuesday (December 25) is a compilation of film songs that capture the spirit of Christmas. ‘X-Mas Vibhangal,’ at 10.30, is a compilation of two- and three-minute capsules on Christmas-related ethnic cuisine.

Tune in to carols at 10.30. while ‘Velli Nakshatram’ compiles scenes from films that evoke memories of Christmas, past and present. ‘Nakashatra Vilakkukalku Thazhe, at 18.30, has politicians like A.K. Antony, Vayalar Ravi and P.T. Thomas going down memory lane.
