Valayapatti fest inaugurated

D.Viswanathan, Vice Chancellor, Anna University, inaugurated the 13th year Valayapatti Kaashyap Naadhalaya Festival, at New Woodlands Hotel, Chennai, on December 21. He noted that among the audience, 95 per cent appeared to be above the age of 50
. To inculcate interest in music in youngsters, weekly vocal, instrumental and percussion classes ought to be made compulsory for school students. He was worried that classical music has still not reached the youth as much as it should have. He would talk to the Tamil Nadu Government on this score and do his mite to promote the culture and heritage of South India, he concluded.
