SANGEETHA DEVI DUNDOO

Women on top

Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor were pitched against each other prior to the release of Om Shanti Om and Saawariya. The verdict is out on these films, and the leading ladies have moved on. Sonam is working with Abhishek Bachchan for Rakeysh Mehra’s Dilli 6, while Deepika has confirmed three plum projects - Nikhil Advani’s Chandni Chowk to China opposite Akhshay Kumar, a Yash Raj project with Ranbir Kapoor and another film with Saif Ali Khan.

Akshaye-Priyan join hands again

After Hulchul and Hungama, actor Akshaye Khanna and film-maker Priyadarshan are back together for another film. We don’t know which movie Priyan is remaking now but we do know that he has taken the team to Kerala for the shooting. And Akshaye Khanna has been making the best of it. He’s bowled over by the backwaters of the state and is living it up in a luxury houseboat when he is not shooting.

Shahid to work with dad Pankaj Kapoor

Pankaj Kapoor is one proud father and he is showing it. He is glad that his son Shahid has come into his own with Vivaah and then Jab We Met. Apart from publicly acknowledging Shahid’s talent during an award function, papa Pankaj has also signed his beta for a movie that he will be directing.

The ‘Kismat Konnection’

There’s more news on Shahid. He and Vidya Balan will be seen together in Kismat Konnection (yup, connection with a K!) to be produced by Ramesh Taurani and Aziz Mirza. Mirza’s last few films Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Yes Boss, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Chalte Chalte starred Shah Rukh Khan. Shahid, who was until recently called an SRK-wannabe, has now stepped into Mirza’s team. The KK movie will also be watched closely for its leading pair, rumoured to be a real-life couple as well.
