Film festival
The ambitiously planned, multi-dimensional 2nd Bengalooru International Film Festival took off yesterday to a grand start. Organised by the Suchitra Film Society in collaboration with the Government of Karnataka and with the support of the Kannada Film Industry, the festival is seeing as many as 12 delegates from abroad and 25 from India participating.
An array of 125 films have been picked from as many as 45 countries for screening in the five venues.
Eminent film makers from India including Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Devan Nair, Shyamprasad, Gajendra Ahire, Suresh Urs, Kiran Shantaram, Aruna Vasudev, and functionaries of various film societies and organisers of other international film festivals are participating.
The films are being screened at five venues of the festival – three halls in Vision Cinemas on Kengal Hanumanthayya Road, K.H. Patil Auditorium on the same road, and the Suchitra Auditorium in Banashankari II Stage.
Delegate registrations at a fee of Rs. 500 for the general public, Rs. 400 for those associated with the film industry, and Rs. 300 for students of cinema, journalism and mass communication are being issued at the office at Vision Cinemas (94480 89180) and Suchitra Film Society, 9th Main, Banashankari II Stage (26711785) on a first come first served basis.
